The Rising Stars Foundation awards scholarships to Paterson’s youth who are pursuing their dreams of post-secondary education. There is no minimum academic requirement. Rising Stars Scholarships are given every academic school year. By accepting a Rising Stars Scholarship, we require you to mentor younger children (in grades K-8th grade) through our All-Star-Academic Service project. The goals of the All-Star-Academic Service project are to encourage and assist younger children to do well in school, have a positive attitude about education and see college as a long-term goal. |

To apply for a Rising Stars Foundation Scholarship, download and complete the application form in its entirety. Also, please make sure to attach the following:
Essay
(1-2 pages). Your essay must address three areas: first, tell us why education is important to you. Next, describe your plans for the future and finally describe the All-Star-Academic Service project you might like to complete next year. Your essay is an opportunity for you to describe your goals and attitude about your education and your desire to influence younger children as a role model while giving back through the All-Star-Academic Service program. If you need help finding a project, please indicate that in your essay.
Letters of Recommendation
Two letters of recommendation are required and one letter must be from a teacher at your school. The other letter may be from a teacher or another adult who is not related to you.
FAFSA/SARS
You must submit a copy of your FAFSA. If you have not completed the FAFSA, please submit your parents’ most recent federal tax return, SSI benefits, welfare benefits or other income statement. Contact the Foundation office with questions about income verification.
Transcript
A copy of your most recent high school transcript.

The Rising Stars Foundation, Inc selection committee chooses scholarship recipients based on their essay, letters of recommendation, a willingness to complete the All-Star-Academic Service project requirement and financial need. Incomplete applicant packets will not be considered. You will be notified by July 15 about the status of your application.
